Football: Rank outsiders Meghalaya scored a major upset in men8217;s football by drubbing last edition8217;s finalist Bengal 4-1 in a Group 8216;A8217; match. Watched by a capacity crowd at the North East Frontier Railway Sports Association ground at Maligaon here, Meghalaya created a sensation by pumping in as many as three goals in the last six minutes.

Swimming: Delhi8217;s Richa Mishra continued to cause a splash scooping up two more gold and take her haul to four. Richa, who garnerd glory in 200m freestyle and 100m butterfly yesterday, won the 1500m freestyle and 200m breaststroke. Three records were made in the men8217;s contest, with Karnataka8217;s Rohith Havaldar, Delhi boy Sandeep Sejwal and the Karnataka men8217;s 4x100m medley relay team winning gold.

Wrestling: Uttar Pradesh grabbed three of the seven gold medals at stake in the wrestling competition. In the Greco Roman 60 kg category, UP8217;s Ravinder overcame a stiff challenge from Anil Kumar of Haryana to grab the gold. In the 84 kg Greco Roman, the gold was grabbed by SSCB8217;s Manoj Kumar while Devender of SSCB won the gold in the 120 kg category. In 51kg free style women wrestling, Babita of Haryana bagged the gold.

Hockey: Jharkhand girls exhibited their prowess in hockey to thrash Delhi 6-0 and seal a place in the semifinals. Flaunting as many as 13 internationals, the winners found the target through Anima Soreng fifth minute, Jyoti Sunita Kullu 12th and 37th, Subhadra Pradhan 24th, Binita Xess 32th and Annarita Kerketta 44th. In other matches of the day, Assam held UP3-3, Orissa defeated 5-2 and Haryana beat Maharashtra 1-0.
