In the Capital, around one lakh people offered prayers at the Jama Masjid and listened to the address by Imam Syed Ahmed Bukhari.

Kolkata: The main congregation was at Indira Gandhi Sarani, where around 45,000 people offered namaz in the morning. Prayers were also held at Nakhoda Masjid, Tipu Sultan Mosque and the sprawling Park Circus Maidan.

Hyderabad: Scores thronged the 400-year-old Idgah Mir Alam mosque to offer prayers. Security was beefed up in the walled city for the occasion.

Ahmedabad: Security was intensified in sensitive parts as thousands of Muslims gathered at the ancient Jama Masjid in the Walled City.

Rajasthan: Khadims successors of Khawaja Moinuddin Chisti offered chhadar at the Dargah Sharief of Ajmer.

Mumbai: The mosques at Haji Ali, Pydhonie, Bandra, Mahim and Jogeshwari saw the maximum crowds through the morning.
