LUDHIANA, DECEMBER 10: The fortunes of stylish Calcutta outfit Mohan Bagan today took a turn for the better when they scored a hard-fought 1-0 win over debutants Border Security Force BSF, Jalandhar in the National Football League match at Guru Nanak Stadium here today.
Mohun Bagan who have had a disappionting season so far 8212; losing all major tournaments 8212; had to put up with a lot of resistence from the motivated securitymen before scoring the match-winner in the 87th minute.
Both sides adopted a cautious approach and played a defensive game. Only after the introduction of Abrowei did the moves start looking more purposeful.
BSF forwards tried some moves at the Bagan post but failed to score as the defence led by Mobby Singh and Raghbir Singh thwarted BSF.
Bagan mainly depended on Basudeb Mondal and Deependu Biswas to strenghten their moves but the BSF put forward some stiff ressistance throughout the match to curb the IFA Shield winners.
Bagan will now clash with the winners of the inauguraledition JCT, Phagwara here on December 13.
