I wish I had a name beginning with 8216;K8217;, I observed to my husband once even as he sat behind the nuisance of a newspaper. Why so, he mumbled. Because Jasmine told me, names with 8216;K8217; bring greater prosperity to people8217;s lives, I explained.
Jasmine is my friend who dabbles in astrology, numerology, 8216;nameology8217; or whatever. I wish I had a name like Katrina or Karina or Kamaina or Kamya or maybe Karen, I went on. Well, you can just change your name, suggested my husband, and went on to suggest Kamini and Kaushalya as possible alternatives. I suspected that he was sniggering behind that newspaper.
But there is another way too, I said brightly. Jasmine says if you double one of the letters in your name, you could also benefit. Like all those people in the TV serials. Look at the way they spell their names! And they mint money! So what8217;s wrong if one wants to improve one8217;s prospects, I added indignantly.
Nothing at all, said my supportive husband. Please feel free to add whatever you wish to your name. So which 8216;T8217; in your name would you like to double 8212; the first one or the second one?
I think it is the 8216;I8217; which will do the trick, I said. The 8216;T8217; is the 20th letter of the alphabet, whereas the 8216;I8217; is the ninth letter, which matches my date of birth, which also adds up to nine!
Brilliant, said my husband, and suggested that I had better check this out with Jasmine because she might even suggest the 8216;R8217; because that is the 18th letter of the alphabet, which also adds up to nine!
You may be right, I said, thrilled at the suggestion. I will do that tomorrow. My husband added that in case I still wish to change my name, his preferred name for me was Kaushalya. This time he did not even attempt to hide his mirth.
Just because you don8217;t believe these things, it does not mean no one else can, I replied in a huff.
Supposing I add an extra 8216;D8217; to my name and make it 8216;Edddie8217;, do you think my finances will rocket? Please ask Jasmine, my husband shot back, collapsing into a huge guffaw behind his paper.
