An old wooden staircase, neatly lined with potted plants, leads to Gallery 7. Till the entrance of the gallery, the hues of rust and brown dominate 8212; it is an old staircase after all. But beyond the threshold is a world that8217;s done, predominantly, in white. The mood in Gallery 7 is clean and spartan.
The walls and the floors are done in white, white curtains keep excess sunlight from coming in and big windows open partly to Mumbai8217;s typical cityscape and partly to a white, winter sky. That8217;s Arun Sachdev8217;s owner of Gallery 7 den, his favourite place to be in. The art gallery is, incidentally, not just his work place but his home too. Well, almost 8212; his home begins beyond the room, where his gallery ends. quot; The place is done in white for the paintings to stand out, quot; says Sachdev. Low furniture makes the gallery look more spacious and more white. The furniture is, again, in shades of beige and cream. Huge paintings adorn the walls and murals are placed on low blocks of wood. Sachdev8217;s favourite corner in his den is right inside the gallery in the last room. quot;I don8217;t sit outside, neither do I allow my staff to sit there. I don8217;t want to intimidate people, quot; he explains.
