CHAL MERE BHAI
The problem with a David Dhawan movie is that the soundtrack always sound like crap until the movie is out. And then 8212; it becomes the best thing under the sun. I8217;ve experienced that myself more than 20 times in the past. However, I should add that I didn8217;t feel that way in the case of Jurrat, Aandhiyaan and Aag Ka Gola. Incidentally, I have a sneaky suspicion that it will happen again with this one.

HUM TO MOHABBAT KAREGA
Err8230; What can I say? Each track reminds you of some other track. The Suno suno number by Sanu and Yagnik sounds like a reworked version of the Baazigar title track. And Tere aage peeche reminds you of the title track from Hero. Then Churalo dil on Side B sounds almost the same as Yeh khushi ki mehfil on Side A.
Thankfully, Le liya is a nice and fresh number by Abhijeet, Sukhvindara Singh and Sudesh Bhosle. Also, it doesn8217;t sound like anything else, which is a pleasant change. Again, Hum to mohabbat karega by Anu Malik and Sunidhi Chauhan on Side B sounds exactly like the one sung by Sonu Nigam and Chauhan on Side A. And Ms Chauhan seems all set to fill the vaccum created by the absence of Alisha Chinai. The crown however belongs to Nigam for his superb rendition of the title track. Take a bow, Sonu.
GANG A very quick review. The Anu Malik-scored Gang soundtrack has the ambience of the old LP-helmed Angaar, and like the excellent Angaar, each track of Gang is unique in its own way. There is the seductive Payal bole, sung effortlessly by Alka Yagnik. Also the great Aaj tu magley with Abhijeet and Jolly Mukherjee the latter in outstanding form. But more than anything else, there is Chodke na jaanaquot; composed by the Boss himself, and sung by the Goddess of seductive singing. The whole cassette is worth this one song alone. A reverse Ghatak situation here, Mr Malik!
But a special mention to the person who arranged the music for Gang 8212; although inspired at times by the Michaels of this world 8212; encore and excellent work! Can we please have the arranger8217;s name on the soundtrack in future? A big hand to him and Mr Malik.
I have my copy, go and get yours if you haven8217;t already.
