CHANDIGARH, July 10: The Chandigarh Defence Colony Welfare Association has questioned the logic behind the setting up of a 50-acre municipal park in the City.
quot;It is a laudable idea to have such a facility for the City Beautiful but the timing and the priority to undertake the venture are miscalculated and demand reassessment of the requirement vis-a-vis the provision of basic needs of City residents, quot; says association president Air Marshal Randhir Singh retd.
Randhir Singh also pointed out several problems being faced by the City, like acute power and water shortage. quot;Things have only deteriorated after the inception of the corporation, quot; he added. Randhir Singh said the MC or the Administration were blind to leakages in the water distribution system and power-thefts by industrialists and colony residents. He added money and efforts should rather be put in to meet various demands of the residents.
