Man shot dead at Antop Hill: A man was killed during a shootout at Sheikh Mistry Dargah, Antop Hill a little after 9 pm on Saturday. The Antop Hill police received a call that an injured man has been found in 42, Sector 7 of Antop Hill. The police took the man to Sion Hospital but was declared dead before admission. Six 9mm bullets were recovered from his body. According to unconfirmed reports, the dead man has been identified as Nagesh Shetty, a top lieutenant of the Chotta Rajan. He was allegedly gunned down by sharp shooters of the Chotta Shakeel gang. A top rung associate of the gang, Shetty was allegedly involved in the unsolved Ismail Malabari killing at the Vikhroli Court in late 1997. Shetty also had four cases of murder against him. This is the 65th shootout of the year.Overhead wire breaks, 12 injured: Twelve children were injured when an overhead electrical wire broke at Sakinaka, near Powai gardens this afternoon. According to the fire brigade, the overhead wire snapped when aprivate crane was trying to haul out a lorry stuck in a ditch at Milind Nagar, opposite Larsen & Toubro on Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link road at around 3 p m. The injured were rushed immediately to Rajawadi Municipal hospital. The hospital admitted three, who sustained less than 20 per cent burns, and discharged others after treating them.Protest over US visa denial: About 150 activists of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha staged a demonstration today against US Consulate protesting the American Government's decision to deny visa to scientist R Chidambaram, chairman of Atomic Energy Commission (AEC). Demonstrators raised slogans, banners, and placards against the US administration's callous and biased attitude against India.
