The Amateur Astronomes’ Association (Bombay) will organise a four day workshop at St Xavier’s College on `Astrophotography’ on November 22 and December 6 for astronomy lovers in the city. The workshop will have practical sessions and field trips in the night for star-gazing. It is aimed at training participants in taking pictures of sun, comets, galaxies, nebulae, star-clusters and other objects.
Lions Club
The Lions Club, Mumbai, will celebrate the birthday of its former international director Ashok Mehta on November 22 by undertaking a series of `service-oriented’ programmes. The Club will donate five ambulances and ten computers on the occasion, organise seminars on AIDS and allot telephone booths to the handicapped. Textbooks and notebooks will be donated to needy students and arrangements will be made to provide facilities for the treatment of those suffering from ill-health.
Award for scribe
The President of Mantralaya and Vidhimandal Vartahar Sangh journalist Praful Sagle has been bestowed the Patralekha Shyamlal Damani Patrakar Gaurav Award for 1997. The award will be presented to him on November 27 at a function organised by the Rajasthan Udghosh at Rang Bhavan, Mumbai.
