
Nearly 3000 taximen from Mumbai held a protest meeting on Tuesday afternoon near Maratha Mandir, Mumbai Central, to assess8217; the morale of taximen. Said A L Quadros, President of the Bombay Taximen Association, 8220;We held the meeting to understand the eagerness of taximen in voicing their demands and to judge whether Mumbai is ready for a strike if needed in the future.8221;
However, Quadros clarified that there were no plans to hold the city to ransom. He claimed that the state government wanted to shelve the issue of allowing autos to ply till Sion hospital. 8220;The government now wants to put the issue in cold storage,8221; he added.
Morcha
The Environment Vigilance Committee of Kelve has organised a morcha to the Palghar Tehsildar8217;s office on November 6 at 11 am. The morcha will comprise participants from 16 surrounding villages. The morcha is protesting the proposed BSES thermal power plant at Kelve.
Cops felicitated
