MHADA workers threaten strike

Over 3,000 employees of Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority MHADA, who have not been given their long due pay hike, have threatened to launch an indefinite strike.

The pay hike has eluded the employees because the state government has not implemented the Fifth Pay Commission report.

8220;The irony is that the state government brow beat MHADA to hand over Rs 300 crore from its corpus to the controversial Shiv Shahi Punarwasan Prakalp for the slum redevelopment scheme, said employees. 8220;It is our own mony we are asking for,8221; said Ravindra Kharkhanis, president, Maharashtra Gruh Nirman Karmachari Sanghatna.

College cashier robbed of Rs 6.5 lakh

The cashier of Ramniranjan Jhunjhunwala College in Ghatkopar W on his way to bank was robbed of Rs 6.5 lakh by four unidentified men on Tuesday.

Mohan Pednekar, the college cashier, and two sepoys were on their way in a taxi to the Canara Bank branch nearby when they were intercepted by a Maruti van.Threatening the cashier with revolver and choppers, the four robbers snatched the bag containing cash and fled. Investigations have revealed that the cash was proceeds from admission to junior college. No arrests were made.
