Bhandup fire destroys property

A fire which broke out on the first floor of a three storeyed building at Bhandup destroyed office property worth lakhs of rupees this evening.The mishap took place at around 5.50 pm, after office hours, on the first floor of Kilbert Industrial Estate, Subhash Nagar, said the fire brigade.

Furniture, office records, electric installations and computers were damaged in the fire, the cause of which is yet to be ascertained. No loss of life has been reported. Four fire engines, one tanker and an ambulance were sent to the site.

BEST8217;s AC bus service

The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking8217;s air-conditioned bus service will ply at an interval of 20 minutes between Oshiwara depot and World Trade Centre, with the first departure from Oshiwara being at 7.55 am and last service from World Trade Centre at 6.40 pm. It will ply between Ghatkopar depot and Hutatma Chowk at an interval of 25 minutes and between Backbay Depot and Walkeshwar every 35minutes.

Book exhibition at Jai Hind

The Reading Room Society of Jai Hind College has organised a book exhibition in the college library upto November 26 between 10 am and 4 pm. The exhibition was inaugurated on November 24 by poet and English professor Eunice de8217;Souza.

Books from publishers like Oxford, Orient Longman, Macmillan and Narosaand will be on display at discounted prices. The subjects include humanities, sciences, management and books on popular subjects including fiction.

Blind student needs reader

A visually impaired student studying in his Third year B A Sociology has requested for a reader. Vikas Shorewala needs a reader to visit him at his residence once or twice a week for two hours till May 1999 free of cost. Competitions for students

Story telling, speech and recitation competitions for students of classes five to ten are being organisedby Ramakrishna Math at Malad, Mulund, Worli and Khar up to December 13.
