
Dalwai says he will sue Abu Azmi
Former president of the state unit of Samajwadi Party SP, Hussain Dalwai today said he would soon file a defamation suit against the party8217;s Mumbai unit chief Abu Azmi for levelling bribery charges.Azmi had last week alleged that Dalwai received Rs 3 crore from senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad for 8220;quitting the SP and breaking it in Maharashtra.8221; Dalwai, who joined the Congress after a meeting with party president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi, refuted the charge saying that he quit SP as its leader Mulayam Singh Yadav 8220;colluded with communal forces8221; to block Congress efforts to form a non-BJP government at the Centre.
Earlier Tushar Gandhi, SP Mumbai unit vice president had also announced his resignation from the SP expressing dissatisfaction over the party8217;a attitude towards the Sangh Parivar which he held responsible for the 8220;assassination of his great grandfather Mahatma Gandhi.8221;
Hotel worker stabbed
A hotel worker, stabbed by his owncolleague has been admitted in serious condition at JJ Hospital at Byculla in south-central Mumbai. Police sources said that Abdul Razak Kasim Mahate 35, who was stabbed by Aslam Dawood Malvankar 38 is battling for life in the hospital. alvankar is still at large. Police sources said that the accused inflicted multiple stab wounds on Mahate after a heated arguement.
CSD meet on TQM
Major General Jagdish Chander, general manager and chairman, board of administration, Canteen Stores Department CSD inaugurted a two-day all India CSD officers8217; conference at Y B Chavan centre in south Mumbai here today. The conference is being attended by all senior officers of CSD. They will deliberate on various issues concerning policies, procedures and systems of the department including total computerisation, improvement and streamlining of procedures and ways and menas to reach out to customers with a view to enhance customer satisfaction, a defence ministry release said here. Canteen Stores Department hasbeen in the service for the last five decades. The department which made a modest beginning with four depots and a turnover of less than Rs 50 lakhs in 1947-48, has now grown into 33 depots and is poised to cross Rs 3200 crores turnover thie year. The department8217;s clientele has also grown steadily from a few thousand British solidiers in 1942 to over four million services8217; households today. Of these, nearly 90 percent of the clientele comprises of jawans and their families while 10 per cent of the clientele comprises of officers and their families.
