Meanwhile, City Youth Congress chief Narendra Ravat and a section of student leaders affiliated with the National Students Union of India NSUI have opposed the Committee8217;s appointment.

Taking this as a prelude to cancelling elections, Ravat, Naval Bajaj, Kiran Raj and others said they would launch an agitation if the elections were banned.

Ravat said the University Union was not only a students Union but even had teachers as representatives. The Union elections are held as per the University norms since 1951.
