India’s T20 World Cup winning captain MS Dhoni might not have the iconic status in IPL, but his base prize on par with the most expensive players in the league. It is learnt that like Aussie great Shane Warne and the iconic stars Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly and Yuvraj Singh; Dhoni too is slotted in the $4,00,000 range.

While the icons will not go under the hammer as they will play for their home teams Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata and Mohali; Dhoni will be up for auction later this month. But the icons will remain the highest earners in their team since, according to an IPL clause, they will earn 15 per cent more than the most expensive player the franchise pocket from the auction.

India’s Test captain Anil Kumble, who hasn’t been part of the ODI team for long and never played a T20 game, will have a base prize of $2,50,000.

$ 1,75,000: Irfan Pathan

$ 1,50,000: Piyush Chawla, VVS Laxman

$1,25,000: Manoj Tiwary, Mohd Kaif, Suresh Raina

$ 1,00,000: Munaf Patel, Ishant Sharma, Yusuf Pathan, Joginder Sharma, Rohit Sharma, Parthiv Patel.

Gilchrist has NOC: Modi

Australian wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist, who will be retiring after the ongoing tri-series, will be in India this April. The last hurdle of the Gilchrist joining the IPL has been cleared. According to IPL chairman Lalit Modi, “Gilchrist has got the no objection certificate from Cricket Australia.” That means he will join the likes of recently retired Aussie players Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne.
