The RSS leadership today kicked off the party’s so-called ‘‘intellectual’’ phase at the first ever convention of the Forum for Hindutva in the Academic Scenario in Bharat, a newly-created outfit of RSS scholars, here.
Dubbing the post-Babri period as a phase of ‘‘Hindu awakening’’, RSS chief K. Sudershan blew the conch for the ‘‘new Kurukshetra’’.
‘‘You should take up the responsibility of providing a firm intellectual base to this awakening,’’ he told 300 odd delegates at the convention.
As a beginning, it was decided to form groups all over the country to see that Hindutva studies get a place in academics. However, most of the presentation (some 72 papers were presented) lacked focus, prompting one of the organisers to remark: ‘‘If we continue like this, then we may have to import ideas from the US’’.
