Gujarat police are thinking of overhauling Chief Minister Narendra Modi8217;s security after his name featured in the e-mail sent by a terror outfit, Indian Mujahideen, to a section of the media following the serial blasts in Jaipur in May 13.

The state police are working towards plugging possible loopholes and also contemplating a total revamp of Modi8217;s security, intelligence sources said. Meanwhile, the state Home department has asked Anti-Terrorist Squad ATS of the police to carry out its own investigation into the e-mail, and to get in touch with its counterparts in Rajasthan and the Centre, sources said. Intercepts by both the Central and state intelligence agencies have revealed that Modi8217;s name features amongst the top few in the hit list of terrorist organisations in the country. Despite enjoying a security cover akin to one given to the Prime Minister, vulnerability of the Gujarat CM varies depending upon his movements.

In a related development, Gandhinagar Collector Sanjiv Kumar issued a notification directing all landlords renting out their properties or portions to register with the local police station. Similar notifications were issued by the local administration in many districts across the state immediately after the Jaipur serial blasts.
