In two different incidents across the city, a minor was raped and another escaped a gang rape attempt by three youths on Sunday. After registering both cases, the police have arrested three accused in separate cases.

Meanwhile, the Focal Point police have also registered a case in connection with the rape of a minor by two persons in the last week of August.

In first incident, a 10-year-old daughter of a migrant labourer in Sunet village was allegedly raped and sodomised by her neighbour Jamshed on Sunday. The Sarabha Nagar police have registered a rape and sodomy case against the accused, who is a resident of Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh. The victim8217;s mother told the police that the accused took her daughter on the pretext of giving her a ride on his motorcycle and raped her on an isolated road near South City.

The Sarabha Nagar SHO Devinder Kumar told Newsline that the accused has been arrested. The SHO said that Jamshed was produced in a local court and the court sent him to two-day police custody. 8220;We have got the medical examination of the victim done. While the rape has been confirmed, sodomy is yet to be ascertained,8221; the SHO added.

In another incident, three youths residing in the neighbourhood of Nanaksar Mohalla made an unsuccessful bid to rape a 14-year-old on Sunday.

According to sources, these youths took the girl to a room and tried to gang rape her. When the girl raised the alarm, they left her but threatened her of dire consequences if she reported the matter to anyone. The girl narrated the episode to her family who further reported the matter to the police.

The police yesterday registered cases against the three accused Jagdev Singh, Kipa and Gurdeep Singh alias Bawa. Assistant Sub Inspector ASI Dalbir Singh told Newsline that of these Jagdev and Gurdeep have been arrested. They were produced in a local court and the court sent them in the police custody for a day.

The police said that efforts were on to nab the third accused.

Meanwhile, the Focal Point police also have registered a case in connection with the rape of a 14-year-old girl. According to the police sources, the girl, a resident of Giaspura, was abducted by two youths from her neighbourhood and allegedly raped her on August 25.

The Focal Point police have registered a rape case against one Vinli and Arun Kumar, both residents of Giaspura.
