Minor fires in Mohali

SAS NAGAR, June 7: Two minor fires broke out in the township today. One was reported in the forest behind the Milkfed Plant in Phase VI, Industrial Area, at around 11.30 a.m. One fire tender was pressed into service, and it took an hour to control the blaze.

The other fire occurred at around 1 p.m. at a spare parts showroom in Phase VII, and destroyed some material there. The cause of the fire is not known, said fire officials. The blaze was controlled in half an hour.

Dhaliwal visits ESPL unit
The demands of the employees of Electronic Systems Punjab Limited will be taken up with the state government, said local Member of Parliament Satwinder Kaur Dhaliwal after she visited the unit yesterday.

The union demanded that a full-time technical managing director be appointed and that ESPL be declared a nodal agency for procurement of computers by the Punjab Government.
