CHANDIGARH, July 9: On a call given by the Punjab Ministerial Services Union, a rally was organised by its city wing here today to protest the Punjab Government `s failure in accepting their demands.The main demands include a scale of Rs 4,550 for clerks and stenotypists, upgradation of junior assistant and junior scale stenographers and three time bound promotional scales for all categories after four, nine and 14 years.Addressing the rally, state general secretary K. K. Jindal categorically stated that it was the first time that clerks and stenographers had been discriminated against. Meanwhile, employees unanimously resolved to observe a pen down strike for two days from July 14. It could be extended if the Punjab Government failed to accede to their genuine demands, said president of the union Raman Kumar Sharma in a statement issued here today.Others who addressed the rally included Kulwant Singh, Dayal Kaur, Kamla Sharma, D. P. Singh, Randhir Singh, Gurnam Singh, H. S. Ahluwalia and Harchand Singh.
