Millennium lecture on energetic universe8217;

PATIALA, Nov 16: The Physics Department of Punjabi University today organised the second lecture of the multi-faculty millennium lecture series. Prof R.M. Goel, pro Vice-Chancellor, was the chief guest.

Welcoming the speaker, Prof K.P. Singh, of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, Prof V.P. Nayyar, Chairman of the Department, briefed the audience about the history of development of space astronomy. Prof K.P. Singh, who spoke on the topic of quot;The Energetic Universequot;, emphasised the role of X-rays and Y-rays in revealing information about the universe. Prof K.S. Dhir, Dean academic affairs appreciated the learned speaker for his illustrious talk and touched upon some metaphysical aspects of his knowledge.

Prof R.M. Goel said the University was honoured by having its own student as a speaker in the prestigious millennium lecture. He congratulated the speaker and Prof V.P. Nayyar for arranging the lecture. Dr Darshan Singh presented a brief introduction of the speaker and Dr B.S. Salaria passed a vote of thanks.
