Miffed Kher drags Surjeet to court

Actor and former Censor Board chief Anupam Kher on Tuesday filed a case of defamation against CPIM general secretary Harkishen Singh Surjeet for an article linking him to the RSS. Kher and his counsel, Majeed Memon, appeared before Metropolitan Magistrate C.B. Havelikar in the city on Tuesday.

Kher8217;s suit details the article titled 8216;Desaffronise Our Institutions8217; published in the CPIM mouthpiece People8217;s Democracy. Kher said in the complaint that the article alleges that there were certain persons, including Kher, who were communal elements occupying high positions as they had been appointed by the previous NDA government at the Centre. The article says Kher subscribes to the Hindutva ideology of the RSS and was 8216;8216;capable of doing incalculable damage to our secular ethos and composite culture8217;8217;, said the complaint.
