KHARAR, July 21: As many as 70 medical officers from different civil hospitals of Roopnagar district were given training on referral system during a speical training workshop organised by the district Health Department for medical officers on referral system adopted by the Punjab Health System Corporation yesterday.

The Roopnagar Civil Surgeon Dr Rajinder Singh Saggu while inaugurating the workshop said that as many as six medical officers and 111 paramedical officers were imparted this training during a similar workshop organised in March. He stressed on the medical officers to work with zeal and dedication while performing their duties. Dr Saggu said under this system which has been adopted in Roopnagar and Bathinda districts, preference will be given to referred cases and no prescription fee will be charged from the patient time and again.

The district immunization officer, Dr Ashok Kumar Khullar and the medical officer of civil surgeon office, Dr Manmohan Singh, imparted training on diseases and surveillance.

Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr B.K. Goel, while addressing the workshop, said that this system will help in providing better health care to the patients.
