
CHANDIGARH, Nov 13: The Municipal Corporation has become richer with the acquisition of various assets in the four villages of Burail, Buterla, Attawa and Badheri. The assets and liabilities of the villages were acquired by it recently from the respective village panchayats.
Though the value of assets acquired has not been assessed yet, Mayor Gian Chand Gupta said a committee would soon be set up to help maintain and manage these assets properly. This committee, he said, would be formed on the lines of the committees set up to maintain the various community centres in the City falling under the purview of the Municipal Corporation.
Among the assets acquired include a panchayat ghar/community centre in Attawa village, a multi-purpose complex, a dharamshala, 16 shops and internal roads/streets in Badheri village, a shopping complex comprising eight shops, and a janj ghar in Buterla village and a janj ghar/dharamshala, three shops, an anganwari centre, an old primary school and a library in Burail village.
