A dash of saffron
It was no doubt a moment of glory under the saffron sun for the new mayor. Soon after he was elected in the House today, Patil had to don a saffron coloured turban. A saffron tilak adorned his forehead and even the laddoos and pedas that were distributed on the occasion had a dash of saffron in them. Most of the Sena corporators, especially the ladies, were also either in saffron shirts or sarees and blouses. Small wonder that the saffron brigade is planning lend its colour to the BEST buses too.
Press as advisor
Perhaps for the first time a mayor spoke about a positive role for the press in the BMC general body meeting. In his official speech after occupying the chair, Mayor Hareshwar Patil included even the press as his advisors. He went on to add that he was open to criticism from the opposition as well as the press adding that he wanted support from all quarters to run the administration.
