AMRITSAR, Feb 8: Markfed has made elaborate arrangements to ensure the smooth supply of DAP fertiliser and urea to farmers for the next kharif season, Cooperative Minister Ranjit Singh Brahmpura said here today.

Inaugurating the new office of Markfed, constructed at a cost of Rs 1 crore, he said the expected requirement of DAP and urea this year was nearly 40,000 mt and three lakh mt, respectively. Iffco and Kribhco had been included for supply of fertilisers to co-operative societies from the next kharif crop as earlier the entire demand was met by Markfed alone, he added. He said Markfed had supplied 2.15 lakh mt DAP during the current rabi season as compared to 1.03 lakh mt last year and special arrangements had been made to procure 11,000 mt at short notice.
