Announcing the launch of her party’s election campaign from Orissa, Bharatiya Jana Shakti (BJS) leader Uma Bharti on Wednesday predicted a clear division in BJP before the general elections in 2009.
Many in BJP are frustrated over the functioning of the party. Therefore, they will like to break away from BJP and join me, the fiery sanyasin told reporters while announcing launch of her party’s election campaign.
Ruling out her return to BJP ahead of the general elections in 2009 as speculated in a section of media, the firebrand leader said she would rather work towards bringing a majority of dissatisfaied saffron party cadre to her fold.
As the BJP distanced itself from ideologies, a majority of cadre were disillusioned with the leadership, she said.
Claiming that her BJS functioned on principles and ideologies, Bharati said many BJP cadre would prefer to join her party. These people could not join any other party than her’s, she pointed out.
Bharati, however, said the disgusted BJP cadres were waiting for the outcome of the assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Chhatishgarh and Jharkhand before joining her party.
The former BJP leader claimed that many in the saffron party were in constant touch with her. They, however, did not join BJS due to the assembly elections in the three states.
On possible electoral alliance with the Congress, Uma Bharati said she would not mind if the country’s oldest political outfit agreed to her conditions.
They (Congress) have to announce building of Ram Temple, not destroying Ram Setu, scraping SEZ proposal and adopt swadeshi economic policy, she said.
Drawing a parallel between her party and the BJP, Uma Bharati said while she believed in politics of penance, the saffron party was busy in making money.
The BJP could be big in many ways than Bharatiya Jan Shakti. But they (BJP) were far away from ideologies pursued by her party, she claimed.
Expressing grief over the serial blasts in Rajastan, she said India should be given free hand while dealing with terrorists.
We should not deal terrorists with restrain according to suggestions made by USA. When they deal with Talibans, they do whatever they like. But in case of India, USA asks us to restrain against Islamic fundamentalists, she said.
She too blamed the Central intelligence agencies for their failure in alerting Rajasthan government about possible terrorist attack.
It is a dangerous phenomenon that the terrorists have targeted peace-loving states like Rajasthan, Bharati said.
