MONTE CARLO, August 28: Future World Cup athletics events will be named Nelson Mandela Trophy in honour of the South African president, the world governing body IAAF has said.
A press release said yesterday the move had been made 8220;to honour one of the biggest statesmen of the 20th century. The next edition of the World Cup takes place Sept 11-13 in Johannesburg. Mandela has declared the event part of his 80th birthday celebrations.
