PANCHKULA, AUG 31: Manan Nagpal and Gaurav Sharma scored contrasting wins over their respective opponents to move into the next round of the professional snooker event in the SK Bajaj Memorial snooker tournament at the Cute Q8217;s Billiards and Snooker Pool Centre in Sector 6, here today. Manan beat Ricky 3-0 while Gaurav was stretched before he could scored 3-2 win over Nitin Monga.

In the match between Manan and Ricky, the score-line of 3-0 does not depict the true spirit in which the match was fought. Ricky gave Manan a run for his money in the contest which lasted for over an hour. Manan, with a break of 28 points pocketed the first frame 48-42. In the second frame Manan had to face tough opposition from Ricky who with his fine cue ball control was in command of the match but Manan potted black ball at the crucial juncture to win the frame 56-52.

In the decider Ricky, however, was not consistent in his play which cost him the frame 27-51 and the contest.

Gaurav had to sweat it out to score 51-72, 55-20, 37-67, 42-39, 55-19 over Nitin Monga. In a marathon session, Gaurav down by a frame, pocketed the second frame 1-1.

But Nitin with long potting made it 2-1. In the last two frames, Gaurav had to dig into his reserves to overpower Nitin, to win the contest 3-2.

In another match Aman Bhasin beat Tarun Kumar 49-17, 57-28, 19-60, 45-24.

In the amateur section, Gurnoor Singh defeated Vishal 17-58, 43-19, 84-33. Abhi prevailed over Suveer 45-13, 93-19, to book a berth in the next round. Jogjot Singh also defeated Anandit Joshi 54-26, 37-55, 61-36.

In the other matches in the professional category, Sameer Bhall beat Aman Benipal 49-42, 63-33, 88-47 while Vikas got the better of Vipul of Jalandhar 57-16, 60-4, 58-17. Honey Bhall also scored 85-12, 49-38, 77-16 win over Gaurav.

Munish Srivastva who is one among the top cueists in Chandigarh also entered the next round matches at the expense of Raj of Solan whom he defeated 26-53, 28-52, 73-13, 74-7, 70-28.

In another match Amit Swamy beat rajiv Bhardwaj 54-50, 34-58, 55-50, 35-60, 48-40.

Naman Nagpal beat Siddharth 2-0 and Varun outplayed Rahul 2-0, to enter the last four state for the pool event in the kids category. Finals in the professional and amateur categories will be held on September 6.
