Management students with a heart of gold

To begin with, the department had launched a first-ofiquest;its-kind project in which students were sent to different NGOs and institutes on the culmination of the Panjab University8217;s Diamond Jubilee celebrations recently.

The students visited institutes including an old age home, Institute for the Blind and the Cancer Cell in PGI among others. As per the project, students have to prepare a report and give a presentation regarding the visit. Talking to Newsline, a student from the department, Nidhi said, 8220;I had never thought that the department would give us such an opportunity. It is a very innovative step that the department has come up with.8221;

Prof Gupta was hopeful that the move would bring about a change in the students and make them more aware of their social responsibilities. Adding he said, 8220;When these students pass out from the department, they may or may not have time to interact with people from other sections of the society. So we, at the department, in our own small way have started this project to make them realise their social tasks.8221; The department has adopted the project as a part of the curriculum.
