CHANDIGARH, Sept 1: The Haryana Institute of Rural Development has organised a six-day training programme on 8220;Project Development and Agency Management8221; for 16 executives of non-government organisations from Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab. The course was sponsored by Council for Advancement of Rural Technology CAPART.

K. K. Bangar, CAPART director general, said the main objective of the programme was to acquaint the participants with current priorities in rural development and developmental skills in formulating projects.

He said the council intended partnership with NGOs who had the capacity to socially mobilise and empower women, members belonging to scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, bonded labour and disabled.

CAPART is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Rural Areas and Employment. It aims at supporting voluntary organisations in implementing projects for sustainable development in rural areas, besides acting as a nodal agency for development of appropriate rural technologies. It was sponsoring a series of such courses to orient NGOs.
