
A man was shot dead and his brother-in-law was injured when a relative of the deceased reportedly fired at them near Raikot this afternoon. Deceased Randhir Singh 50 became the victim of a property dispute.
Sukhdev Singh, who was hit in his leg by a bullet, has been admitted to the DMC Hospital where his condition is stated to be out of danger. One Piara Singh, who was also with them at the time of the attack, had a narrow escape.
According to the police, the deceased8217;s nephew Sukhpal Singh accomapnied by three men allegedly attacked Randhir Singh, Sukhdev Singh and Piara Singh while they were on their way to Barnala to buy a new harvesting machine.
Sources said that the deceased was settled in Kenya and came back to India about two years ago. SHO Gurdial Singh said efforts were on to nab the accused. He said that a case on charges of attempt to murder had been registered against Sukhpal for attacking Randhir in the past as well.
