Man hacked to death

A man was hacked to death by three people on Baner Road around 1 am on Sunday. The police have identified the man as Dharampal Munnilal Verma 26, who was doing road construction work. The police have arrested the accused Navnath Tamhane 25, Sagar Chakankar 22 and Rahul Chakankar 22 in connection with the case on the basis of a complaint filed by Rambabu Verma.

8220;No reason could be found for the killing. The three people who are accused for the murder of Verma were drunk at the time,8221; said assistant police inspector BI Kamble.

Police officials said that Rambabu and Dharampal accompanied by a surveyor were working on Baner road near Balewadi phata on Sunday morning, when suddenly a group of boys came to the spot they were standing and hit Dharampal on the head with a crowbar and a wooden club. Dharampal sustained serious injuries. He was taken to Aundh Chest Hospital where he was proclaimed dead on arrival.
