Man charges brother with insurance fraud

AHMEDABAD, Oct 24: A man has lodged a complaint with Karanj police station alleging that his elder brother had withdrawn insurance money from Life Insurance Corporation by producing a fictitious death certificate of his younger brother8217;s wife and daughter.

Aneesh K Rani, a resident of Khoja Society in Kankaria area, has alleged that his elder brother Firoz 8212; also his business partner in the footwear business 8212; had withdrawn insurance money by producing fake death certificates of his wife Saroj and daughter Afreen. He has claimed that both Saroj and Afreen are alive and healthy, but his brother had cheated his family and withdrawn Rs 2.53 lakh and Rs 43,000 through two cheques.

The withdrawal was reported to Aneesh by the Life Insurance Corporation office on October 20. Following this, Aneesh lodged a complaint with Karanj police station. Police sub-inspector D D Chavda is investigating the case.
