Mamata to hit Nandigram, Singur, again

Alleging that the CPM has unleashed a reign of terror in various districts ahead of the general elections, she announced several programmes to combat it on the ground level. The TMC will hold a rally in Singur on November 2 and in Nandigram on November 10.

Banerjee said: 8220;Hundreds of people died in Nandigram, when the CPM recaptured it. Many people of the area are still missing. We will also organise a mamoth rally in Singur demanding the return of land to dispossessed farmers.8221;

She alleged that with Lok Sabha polls approaching, the state government, along with a section of police, is committing atrocities on people in different parts of the state. 8220;Be it Ayushgram in Burdwan, Suri in Birbhum or Dinhata in Cooch Behar 8212; the CPM is conducting Nandigram-style operations, burning down villages and killing people. The victims are mostly minorities.8221;

Banerjee said her party will conduct 8220;SP Abhiyan8221; against superintendents of police in various districts, including Burdwan, Birbhum, Nadia, West Midnapore, North 24 Parganas and Cooch Behar from October 31. Trinamool leaders are being sent to different districts to gauge the local situation, she added.

Slamming the state government for not allowing the newly-elected Trinamool Zilla Parishads in East Midnapore and North 24 Parganas to operate, she said: 8220;The state government is not letting us set up district planning committees in these districts. Therefore, Central schemes like NREGA and Indira Vikas Yojana are not reaching the villagers.8221;
