MUMBAI, May 30: The imminent8217; annual transfers of Income Tax commissioners did not come on Saturday, two days before the general budget.

However, transfer orders of lower grade officers like deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners in Mumbai have been effected. So have orders of commissioners and other senior officers in the Customs and Excise department. One officer has been transferred twice within five days.

K P Singh, CCE Appeals Mumbai was first transferred as Commissioner Customs to Nhava Sheva and was again transferred as Commissioner Central Excise Mumbai II. Moheb Ali, who was holding the Nhava Sheva post will now be Customs Commissioner Imports Mumbai, and Ramesh Ramchandra will be Commissioner Nhava Sheva.

M G Venugopalan, Customs Commissioner Imports will now go as Commissioner Central Excise, Pune.

A K Mehta, the officer for Competent Authority under SAFEMA, has been transferred to Coimbatore and his post will be taken by Maheshwar Prasad, Commissioner Central Excise,Allahabad.

While M Dwivedi will be Excise Commissioner, Mumbai VI, S S Bedi will be Excise Commissioner Mumbai IV, and Omkar Nath will hold the post of Excise Commissioner, Mumbai V.
