Mahato murder: 2 Maoists held

They are residents of Narshinghpur East Singhbhum and active members of the CPI-Maoist. The rest had provided them with logistic support.

Investigations have confirmed what the Maoists have been claiming 8212;- that Mahato was on their hit list ever since several Nagrik Suraksha Samitis mushroomed in various pockets of East Singhbhum and West Singhbhum districts with the JMM leader8217;s backing.

However, there are still many missing links.

For one, the police are yet to find out why the football ground was selected for the scene of crime. They are also trying to fugure out whether the Naxal conspiracy was used as a ploy by certain political parties to eliminate the JMM leader.

Deputy Inspector General Kolhan Ramlakhan Prasad said the involvement of Maoists had been established but disclosure of any further names at this juncture would hamper the investigation.

Thanking the vilagers for their cooperation he said the district police and state agencies including Crime Investigation Department, were working as a team to solve the murder case.
