GUWAHATI, April 11: Maharashtra drew goalless with Bihar to make the quarter-finals of the Santosh Trophy football tournament at Diphu, Assam today. Playing in Cluster D Maharashtra made the grade by virtue of better goal difference.

Tamil Nadu, Services, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Punjab and Karnataka today won their matches in the 54th edition of the tournament being played at various centres in Assam. In Cluster A in Duliajan, Tamil Nadu beat Nagaland 4-1. The winners netted the goals in the first half with captain Syed Sabir Pasha scoring two goals and Bobby Hamilton and David Nagarajan one each.

The solitary goal for Nagaland was scored by Noketocho in the 54th minute.In the same Cluster, Services beat Haryana 6-0. The goals were scored by Pushpakar Singh, Lalsen Maswana (2), Saroj Gurung (2) and substitute Shibu K. In Cluster F at Nagaon, Andhra Pradesh drubbed Rajasthan 6-1, while Kerala beat Orissa 4-0 to enter the quarter-finals.For Andhra Pradesh, Umai Nandan and Majid scored two goals each, whileZulfiqar and Safi scored one apiece.

The solitary goal for Rajasthan was scored by Rabindra Singh Negi.Prasantham netted two goals while VP Saji and Rajesh R scored one each for Kerala helping them to enter the quarter-finals.In Cluster `B’ matches at Silchar, Punjab got past Madhya Pradesh 1-0, while Karnataka trounced Mizoram 6-1.In a Cluster `E’ match at the Nehru Stadium here, Railways trounced Himachal Pradesh 15-0 leading 5-0 at half-time.Augusto D’Silva, Bimal Thapa and Pradip Saha scored three goals each, while Ritinmoy Roy scored two and the remaining were netted by Prashanta Ghosh, Amit Ghosh and Jayanta Ghosh. Himachal Pradesh conceded a suicide goal at half-time.Railways is through to the quarter-finals.
