Mahal group sweeps PAUTA elections

Dr Baldev Singh Sohal of the Mahal group defeated Dr Harmeet Singh Khingra of the rival group by a margin of 39 votes. Dr K S Sangha was defeated by Dr Mukesh Siag by a margin of 57 votes while Dr Gurbachan Singh Saroa of the Mahal group defeated Dr Jagjit Singh Sarabha by 23 votes. Dr Romesh Chand Sharma is the new treasurer. He won by a margin of 82 votes.

Post the results, Dr M L Sharma called upon all the teachers to work together for common interests.

8220;The elections are over and one team had to win but now we are all one and will stand united.8221;

Echoing the same feeling, Dr Mahal who will now head PAUTA for a year said, 8220;We may have fought these elections as adversaries but now we are one as the main aim of both groups is the interest of the teachers.8221;

The others elected from Mahal group includes Harpreet Singh, Kuldip Singh, Navprem Singh, M Javed, Rakesh Sharda and Inderjit Kaur all for the post of councillors.

The post of extension north has been bagged by Vipin Kumar Rampal, extension south by Mukhtiar Singh Gill, extension north by Harpal Singh Randhawa and Research South by Jitender Singh Brar.

All these are outstation posts.
