He’s back. But this time around he seems to be maintaining a low profile. Shoaib Akhtar, the flamboyant speedster from Pakistan, however, continues to live life in the fast lane despite all the recent talk putting him down.

Having arrived in the morning, the 28-year-old rushed out of the Taj Land’s End hotel followed by three gun-toting body guards to the studios (undisclosed) to shoot for a motorbike commercial, which is also to star Sachin Tendulkar. The two, however, will have separate shooting sessions, it was learnt.

Given his low-key showing in the just-concluded historic series and the controversy in the final Test where he chose to leave the field following a wrist injury, Akhtar is being kept away from the media by the agency managing him here.

No more of that freewheeling attitude with media personnel. He prefers to be left alone. Given the flak Inzamam and Co. have received back home and the soul searching in process by the Pakistan Cricket Board, the stance appears justified.

In India’s commercial capital till Thursday, Akhtar is expected to be part of a few charity programmes as well.
