As shelling continues between troops of both countries near the borders, government offices, markets, schools, public places and even places of worship in Jammu rumble with war talk.

This morning, a temple priest was asking devotees when war would break out. In schools, pupils and teachers were busy deciding when things would come to a head.

Priyanka Uppal, a government school teacher, said over the last few days even primary students were eager to know about the likely war. TV was responsible for the high awareness of the border tension, she said. For children, war appears to be fun, she said, but if one does break out, it would be better than dying with anxiety daily over fears of terrorist attacks.

Bank employee Rajan Gupta said cash withdrawals have shot up over the last few days, especially after the Kaluchak attack. Some clients said they were withdrawing money for ready cash at home if war broke out. Even at cash counter queues, customers talked of the results of a likely war.
