LJP to launch stir in UP

Lok Janshakti Party LJP has demanded a high level inquiry into the alleged starvation deaths of Dalits in Bundelkhand. The party also wants the Ganga Express highway project to be shelved immediately.These are parts of a 15-point charter of demands for which the LJP will hold a state-wide agitation programme in UP on February 5, it was decided at a meeting of the office-bearers and district unit presidents of the LJP held at party chief Ram Vilas Paswan8217;s residence on Friday.

LJP wants the ban on students8217; union election to be lifted, Lucknow Industrial Development Authority LIDA to be scrapped, and re-appointment of 13,000 Urdu teachers and 18,000 policemen who were removed. The LJP said that Mayawati Government had scrapped the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act and demanded that it should be restored.
