LIC to wish you a longer life via SMS, toll-free

Life Insurance Corporation, which is in the business of insuring death, will now wish its policy holders a longer life through messages on mobile phones. As part of its new it-driven marketing and customer care campaign, LIC will also remind policy holders about premium payment dates and inform them of new schemes through SMS on their mobile phones.

Those who do not have mobile phones can call the company any time on toll-free number 8216;12518217; for enquiries about their policies or any other problems, LIC zonal manager North M.M. Mukherjee said. 8216;8216;We have tied up with BSNL and MTNL for a the toll free number. Policy holders can call the toll-free number get their queries answered by ringing the number. The facility is available in all regional languages,8217;8217; he said. Viewing the high incidence of policy lapse due to non-payment of premium after a few years, LIC has now introduced the facility of SMS alert.
