Lewis overlooked for World Cup

LONDON, July 28: Controversial all-rounder Chris Lewis was surprisingly omitted from a massive 37-man provisional World Cup squad announced by England8217;s selectors yesterday.

The Leicestershire captain, who was recalled to the international stage for the One-day defeat against South Africa in May, now finds that there are eight players yet to represent England at senior level ahead of him in the pecking order.

The squad has been named now 8212; almost a year before the World Cup 8212; so fitness adviser Dean Riddle can start each individual on specific build-up programmes.
