When will Mani Shakar Aiyar and his brand of spin doctors learn their lessons and stop belittling the intelligence of Indian voters 8216;Defeat and its consequences8217;, IE, December 9? As the assembly elections have shown, Indian voters are coming of age, voting on issues, demanding development and rewarding those who have delivered 8212; a case in point being the Congress retaining Delhi. When will people like Aiyar realise that they cannot continue to flog their hackneyed, make-believe creations and fantasies of Indian versions of 8220;Hitler8221;, 8220;Nazis8221;, 8220;Gujarat lab8221;, etc? Some people can be fooled some times, but all people cannot be fooled all the time.

8226; ManiI Shankar Aiyar8217;s article sounded like the minutes of the seven-hour-long Congress Working Committee meeting.

8226; Cribbing won8217;t get you or your party anywhere, Mr Aiyar. Start re-inventing your party and induct some young leaders instead of seventysomethings who stab each other in the back.

Dual incrimination
After Dilip Singh Judeo8217;s video episode, the BJP8217;s target was former Chhattishgarh chief minister Ajit Jogi. By hook or by crook the BJP has now trapped power-hungry Ajit Jogi on an audio-tape. After that the naked fight between the BJP and the Congress has opened a can of worms. Neither did the BJP emerge in a good light in the Tehelka and Judeo episodes, nor has the Congress come out with flying colours. Both parties will have a tough time refurbishing their tarnished image.

Jogi8217;s timetable
The Congress should have got rid of Ajit Jogi before the assembly elections; then the composition of Chhattisgarh8217;s new assembly would have been different 8216;Jogi admits he goofed, but Cong8217;s cold: don8217;t even call8217;, IE, December 9.

Winning the draw
The first Test between India and Australia may have ended in a tame draw, thanks to the weather, but we can comfortably state that our team has achieved a moral victory in this match. Most of us would not have even considered this Test worth watching for we were sure that it would be a very dull, one-sided affair. What actually transpired was something pleasantly different! Putting up a tremendous all-round performance, our cricketers not only bowled out the Aussies for a modest score but even surpassed their total, with the Indian captain playing a stupendous knock. This only shows that if our boys believe in their capabilities and have the right attitude, they can subdue any team in the world, no matter how mighty.

A few special men
8216;A Tale of two Uday Singhs8217; by Saikat Datta IE, December 8 was very topical. The Indian Army8217;s top brass needs to come up with solutions and prepare a special forces cadre.
