
CHANDIGARH, Sept 19: The need to rehabilitate the leprosy affected was reiterated on the concluding day of the Conference on Leprosy being held at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research.
Papers on various topics dealing with social obligations and rehabilitation plans were held today. Experts from Bombay, Madhya Pradesh, Agra discussed the problems regarding rehabilitation, the social taboos attached and the various obstacles along with suggestions.
Besides, as encouragement to young doctors, awards for the Best Paper Published and Best Paper Presented were also announced. While Dr Gigi Ebnezer from Tamil Nadu was declared the winner of Best Paper Published, Dr Aroop Sarkar from PGI proudly bagged the Best Paper Presented award.
On the final day, the best posters were also adjudged. Based on leprosy and dealing with its various aspects, the posters made by the young doctors provided an insight into the various aspects of the disease.
