Australia were hit by a double injury blow on Wednesday when fast bowler Brett Lee pulled out of the Sri Lanka tour with an ankle injury and Michael Kasprowicz suffered a shoulder injury.

Lee injured his left ankle during Australia8217;s practice match last week and missed the first Test which started on Monday. Team physiotherapist Alex Kontouri decided to send Lee home for treatment by his foot and ankle consultant. 8220;Brett Lee is suffering from inflammation at the back of his ankle joint and as a result we felt it was prudent for him to see doctors in Australia,8221; Kontouri said. Lee was disappointed but hopeful he would return as soon as possible. 8220;Initially I felt pretty good after the training session but once the pain returned I knew I was in trouble,8221; Lee said in a statement. 8220;I am really disappointed because I thought I was on the improve. I guess it8217;s back to square one now to rectify the problem.8221;

Kasprowicz sprained his shoulder after colliding with a ball boy towards the end of the seond day8217;s play in Galle. He will not bowl again in Sri Lanka8217;s innings.
