CHENNAI, June 15: The advocate assault matter took a serious turn on Monday with the Madras High Court Advocates Association deciding to boycott all the courts and tribunals in the city indefinitely from today.The decision was the consequence of the police not arresting PSI Jafi and head-constable Mariappan, who allegedly assaulted advocate R Rajan on June 10. A resolution to this effect was adopted at the association's general body meeting around 2 p m today. The resolution said the police officers involved in the assault should be arrested. Another resolution wanted the police officers, similarly involved in the assault of another advocate Harihararajan on June 12, be arrested and case be registered against them.Another resolution urged the Madras HC to take action against the investigating officer in advocate Rajan assault case for committing contempt of court by filing false documents before it.
