PUNE, June 14: A 45-year-old woman lost her life and three others were injured in a land dispute near Chakan, the rural police said.

The deceased was identified as Parvati Dattatraya Kaldoke who tried to intervene in a fight between her son Ganesh and Nivrutti Pawar who owns a farm adjacent to the one owned by Parvati.

Ganesh was ploughing the field when Nivrutti and his son Santosh accused him of encroaching upon the border between the two farms. A heated scuffle ensued between Ganesh and Pawar.Parvati tried to intervene. She was hit with an axe and was seriously injured and later died. The police has arrested Nivrutti Pawar and his son Santosh. Ganesh and his sisters were also injured in the scuffle.
