Konkani8217;s father held

MUMBAI, June 4: The J J Marg police this morning arrested absconding gangster, Firoz Konkani8217;s father, Abdullah Sarguroh 56. He has been charged with helping Konkani in his escape from the J J Hospital on May 6 and has been remanded in police custody till June 11.

8220;We suspected right from the beginning Sarguroh8217;s involvement in Konkani8217;s escape. Certain clues later confirmed our suspicions,8221; said Deputy Commissioner of Police zone-I Ashok Dhameja.

He has been booked under Section 120 B of the IPC, which means hatching a conspiracy.

Although the police are tight-lipped over how he helped his son, a senior police officer revealed that a few days before Konkani8217;s escape, Sarguroh had sent him a message through an undertrial which said: 8220;groundwork completed; preparations are over.8221; The message was delivered to Feroz at the Thane Central Jail.
